I have my hard drive from my windows computer (500gb) that I need to copy, in it's entirety, to one partition on my mac... but disk utility won't let me do it when I try to use the Restore option and copy my windows drive to a partition on the mac drive... how would I go about doing this?

Even if you were to clone the partition, you wouldn't be able to boot Windows because the hardware configuration is different. There is no system but GNU and Linux is one of its kernels.
