Unhappy I deleted jar launcher, dont know how to get it back
I deleted the "jar launcher" application because i'm an idiot, and thought it would fix my problem, (witch is irrelevant for the current situation) and now i cant open jar files, witch is a problem, so i majorly need help, i have tried some recovery programs, but it didn't help. I just need to know how i can get "jar launcher" back unto my mac so i can open jars. I don't need a super quick solution, but any help at all would be very appreciated.

P.S. my os version is 10.8.3

Sounds like you just need to reinstall Java
Not been around these parts for a while. Trying to change that . .

I already tried reinstalling it, but it didn't put the jar launcher back where the one i deleted used to be, as in it doesn't put jar launcher at all.

Where was this 'jar launcher'? and what was the file name?

Also, can't you just restore from the trash?

Any chance you burned Mountain Lion to a USB flash drive prior ton running? If so Pacifist may be able to access the file. If the worst comes to the worst, go into the App Store, hold down Option and hit Purchases. You will be able to download ML again f.o.c.
Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

That would be the location of JL in Apple's implementation of Java which would explain why reinstalling it didn't lead to its presence there.

Is there any particular reason that you need JL? It doesn't do much beyond execute a Jar file which can be executed without it.

well lots of minecraft modpack launchers are jar files, and now that i deleted jar launcher, when i try to run the jar files, it unpacks them, and gives me a zip, witch is its contents and nothing that makes it run, but you said there is a way to execute it with out jar launcher, how so?

You have to use the command line. Open up Terminal (/Applications/Utilities) and enter the following:
    Code:
    java -jar
Press space after that and then drag the jar file from Finder into the Terminal window. Press enter and voila.
