location of history list in osX

Just wondering -- where in OX are the browser history lists located for safari -- I don't mean the display in the menu bar -- but is there some file where the information that's displayed in the histories are stored? It must be somewhere because you wouldn't be able to clear the history if it weren't right?

This is an old article referring to Safari's Messy Trail and talks about Safari version 4.X, but believe it or not, it's still the same in the current version. Follow the trail and delete the entire folder.
