When my mac book pro starts up, before the gray login in screen, immediately after the white screen with the apple logo, my screen changes from one gray to another shade of gray to the login in screen. Does anyones MBP do this?

I just noticed it I guess. The screen turns two different shades of gray rather quickly before the login screen.

What version of OSX are you running? The later versions here turn 2 shades of Blue if I remember right. I rarely reboot but that is what I remember. I remember Tiger doing 2 shades of Gray.
