I can create restore points but it seems I can't access any restore points. Anyone have any idea's?

The restore tab on the right when in Time Machine won't allow me to activate it.

What exactly are you trying to do? If you're attempting to restore a file or folder from a specific backup (date), just right click on the file or folder and select restore. A Finder like dialog will open asking where it should be restored to.

I got it. I wanted to grab the Message app which I did. Initially I tried to restore the whole computer but was having no luck. I did what you suggested and it worked.
