A few weeks ago my macbook pro crashed. i used the installiation disk and it started back up with os x 10.4.11 and when i try to update itunes or other apps it won't let me and says i need os x 10.5, which when i try to update my laptop it says that everything is currently up to date. is there any way to update up to the current version? ( safari is also the only application that will open and run without crashing so time machine isnt an option)

G'day and welcome to the forums.

As the song goes, you have gone about as far as you can go with Tiger.

The only way to upgrade is to buy leopard OS X.5, or even better Snow Leopard OS X.6 or Lion OS X.7. Perhaps Lion on a USB thumb stick at $69 maybe the best value for you.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
