Welcome to Mac-Forums

Download from where? In what application? On what Mac? With which version of OS X? Onto which storage media?

You've gotta provide something useful before you can get any help..

This iMac is from the 2004-2005 timeframe (so an older one). It's running a fairly old version of the Mac OS...and with 256meg of ram...that's not much. So a "pretty weak" system overall.

Are you able to "boot" the computer to the desktop?...or does it not fully boot at all.

When you say it "will not download" what are you trying to do when you get the message "mounting failed"?

Don't skip any details...since we cannot read your mind...or see what you're seeing.

I get the msg "mounting failed" on anything I download from the Internet to my Mac. In addition, there are a few websites that only partially come up. When I place my mouse on any words on that website they disappear!

How full is your hard drive (amount used & amount free)?
