I'm new to mac and have found I've ran out of disk space. I think it is because I setup my mail as pop and thousands of messages downloaded. I've removed accounts but there's still 335gb of other files taken up somewhere. Any advice on where pop would have downloaded messages to? Cheers.

Can you give us a bit more detail about what type of Mac you are using and also what version of OS X? 335 GB sounds like there are some other files taking up at least some of that space (movies, photos, etc).
