Open Word and go to the Help menu. Choose 'Check for Updates', and if any are available, download and allow them to install. Once that's done, give it another shot.

Office 2011 came out before Mac OS X 10.7 Lion - so, there were some subsequent patches issued that help with Lion compatibility. Since it's likely a brand new install on your new Mac, it's probably just a matter of getting it up to date.

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

Make sure you have downloaded all the recent updates to Word 2011. The latest is Word 14.2.2. The cut and paste freezing problem was resolved in a previous update some time ago. If you have installed all the updates and still have a problem with freezing, try reinstalling Office 2011. Use the MS instructions for uninstalling before reinstalling. LINK
