Depends which iMac G4 we're talking about. There were 8 different models with various cpu speeds.

Mac Specs: iMac i5 2.7GHz, 16GB memory, OS X.10

In short with no info provided under 867MHz processor Tiger OS X.4.

Over and above the 1GHz model, Leopard OS X.5. In either case make sure you purchase a black xoloured full retail install DVD and not a silver grey model specific set.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
