Hi,

I ask this question more from my interest than because its causing me an issue...yet.

On my main log in screen I've noticed something a bit strange happening. Its been on going for a matter of months now.

First my name became...Joe Blogs(1)....then Joe Blogs (2)...and since then its been going up and up and up i'm now up to Joe Blogs (9).

I've attempted to look up this issue and have had no luck in resolving it.

Any idea's what this is? and how it can be solved??

As I said before it doesn't seem to be causing me and issue now..but wanted to get some advice before it possibly becomes one.

Thanks in advance

Look in Sharing System Preferences.
Check the Computer name field, then click Edit and check that too.
Change this to what ever you want.

I've seen this happen when using WiFi and ethernet connections as well as connecting to the same DHCP server over and over before leases run out.
