being new here i am not sure where to postsome of my problems.

before i lost everything in a re-install, i had on the top right side of the (can not think what the nomenclature is) the month, day, date and year, now all i have is: "Sat 7:53" i have tried everything i can to get back what i once had.

can anyone help ??

I moved your post to the correct forum and changed the subject so that it makes more sense. Now, tell us which version of OS X you're using?

You can make adjustments to the way the date time is displayed in the top menu from System Preferences, Language & Text. Click on the "Formats" tab and make the changes you wish.

The checkbox you want to ensure is checked is the one labelled "Show date" in the "Date options" section.

Also, the word you were looking for was "menubar."

done that, still only shows the day (Sun) and time.

That is definitely the checkbox to add the month and date (I just double checked here). Try logging out and back in.
