The screen on my macbook was ruined in a car accident. I've been using an external screen ever since. I finally got around to removing what I thought was a piece of scrap, but now my airport can't find my internet. Is the internal antenna in a macbook located in the upper panel behind the screen or did I cause a separate issue?

The wifi and bluetooth antennas are in the screen assembly around the edges of the screen. It is possible you removed the antenna.

Thanks for the help.
I figured as much... There are four separate connections from the screen to the base (on the right side: [a thick black ribbon and braided silver wire with a small plug], on the left side: [ a small black ribbon and a set of 3 wires (black, blue and grey) that plug in individually). The braided silver wire is the only one that strikes me as an antenna of any sort. Do you know what each of these is?

Have you been to ifixit.com? They have lots of assembly/disassembly instructions (with lots of photos) which may help with your questions.
