Dear Crowd,

I am a new Mac user (two-months old), happily discovering my new machine. For the past two days, have been experiencing a continuously slowing-down laptop. It seems to be reading everything constantly, is late in opening applications/ browsing data ... the only new thing I did was download Picassa for Mac (two days ago) which I am hoping is the only problem that would go away if I have to uninstall it!

Any advice (in layman language) from any corner would be much appreciated.

Warmest,
M

Check how much space is left on your Hard Drive, roughly 15% should be free.
You can also check Activity Monitor and see the amount of CPU and RAM is available.

Have you downloaded/any sort of anti virus software as these can cause catastrophic problems.

Play the guitar?! Check out the [newly created]Mac-Forums guitar thread!

And that includes MacKeeper and Mac Defender.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
