I have just downloaded the latest version of Skype - 5.1.6.0.143 - onto my MacBook Pro and it just keeps quitting unexpectedly, will not work at all. I have OS X v.10.5.8 so it should work?!

Old OS + up-to-date software = often a bad idea.

Here's a link to 2.8. Use that.
