I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on a MacBookPro. My MobileMe account runs out in June, when I guess I'll have to go to iCloud and LION 10.7.2. I might as well bite the bullet and do it soon but I'm worried about any weird changes to my Address Book and Calendar which are critical to my work.

What can I expect when I switch to LION? Will my Apps stay the same? Thank you in advance for your help and comments.

Try this thread to see about quirks in Lion
The Lion Quirks Thread
It is a little dated as my latest version is 10.7.3 and this was from when Lion first released.

Yes there is a quirk ~ it ruins fast and rock steady.

When you download Lion from the App Store, prior to running install, burn to a USB thumb stick which will be bootable and do a clean install rather than update.

If you have updated via TM or cloning, run Migration Assistant to bring everything over and then download the OS X.7.3 Combo Updater.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
