I'm wondering if a restore disc (10.5 Leopord) for an iMac will work on other Macs. Retail Leopord 10.5 seems to be quite pricy.

Snow Leopard discs are less, or at least they were. What are your Mac's specs? If it will handle SL, you can skip Leopard.
