Java 1.5+ missing

i have been having lots of java issues. tried updating to JDK7 but that didn't work

i did the sofware update, so all that is up to date... but java is just gone.

Java 7 is currently in pre-release software so you're better to stick with 6.

What version of OS X are you using? Every version pre-Lion came with Java. If you're using Lion, you can find instructions here.

Snow Leopard comes with Java. Open up /Applications/Utilities/Java Preferences.app and make sure Java is set to "On."
