G'day and welcome to the forums.

Helps greatly if you tell us about your computer and current operating system. We have to guess is it a Core 2 Duo, the minimum for installing Lion?

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

You can not install Lion on an Intel Core Duo as that is a 32 bit system. Lion requires a full 64 bit system for installation. That means a Core 2 Duo or higher CPU is required.

There is your answer. Lion for Core 2 Duo machines only. The latest OS you can install is Snow Leopard available for $29 still available from your Apple store on Apple Online.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
