Cleaning macbook pro

Hi all I've had my mac about 2 years now and it's not as nippy at at 1st so was wondering the best way to speed it up and give it a good old clean / tune up. I seen to get the coloured beach ball quite a lot so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance kev.:D

Try Onyx.
Titanium's Software • View forum - Downloads and Histories

If it doesn't help, please tell us your hard drive free space.

Onyx is a great place to start. It would also help to know how much drive space you have free vs used. Also what apps you use regularly or have loading on startup.

That's plenty of free space.

Look in the Activity monitor and see if there's anything constantly using more than 5-10% CPU.
And look at memory use and see if there's swap-in/swap-out going on.
Last - use Console Utility to read logs and look for anything being written over and over - like more than once a minute.
