I cannot get pdf file open with SKIM. I am not sure if I am doing it correctly or not. I clicked on open and then open with Skim and nothing happens. Not sure if this is correct. Please let me know. Thanks in advance. Many on this board have been a real help to someone who is'nt the most knowledgable about macs.

Do you NEED to use "SKIM". Adobe Reader is probably the best way for reading PDF files:

Adobe - Adobe Reader download - All versions

- Nick

- Computer slow, too many "beachballs", read this: Beachballs
- Computer seems slower than it used to? Read this for some speedup tips: Speedup
- Almost full hard drive? Some solutions. Out of Space
- Apple Battery Info. Battery

I'd guess that if neither Preview nor Skim can open the file, it's probably corrupted. I've yet to see a single pdf that could not be opened by one of them.

I am not sure if I did it correctly. I clicked the pdf file and went to open, and then I clicked open with: skim. Not sure if this is right or not?

And did you try just double clicking to see if Preview can open it?

Open up Preview and the go to File > Open. Does the file open when you do that? Can you open any PDF file?

When I click on Preview it does,nt open up either. It just flashes down at the bottom of screen in the tool bar ( safari, etc). Not certain why this is?

If it's just the one PDF, it's probably corrupt. Re-download it or have it resent to you and try again.
