For starters have you installed Snow Leopard? If so go to Software Update under the Apple icon in the Menu Bar and choose Software Update and then be updated to OS X.6.8. Go into Utilities > Bootcamp Assistant and print the guidelines. It is important you allow Bootcamp to partition the hard drive as it will not install if you pre-partition. The drive must be a single drive formatted Mac OS Extended (Journalled) and GUID partitioned. Also is the XP disc a clean, never activated disc as you will be required to activate the disc with Microsoft during the installation. Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer! |
