So I'm wondering if Mac janitor is the way to go for a defragmenter?? Is this the standard that everyone uses?? I had it before but I can't remember where I got it from (probably Version Tracker), but I"m also wondering if there is something better??

There is no need for a defrag program on OSX.

And for what it's worth, MacJanitor does not defrag it runs the cron jobs if you don't leave your computer all the time.

I think MacJanitor is a good program but I personally use Cocktail. Both of those and others that do similar things can be found at http://www.macupdate.com.

Good you pointed that out before somebody tells to use MacJanitor to defrag.

Due to the way HFS+ (the Mac's filesystem) works, defragmenting is unnecessary. Fragmentation is avoided on the fly while handling files.

Actually, I don't think Jaguar defrags itself.

So I'd suggest Panther or Tiger as your defrag app. :mac:
