hi all!

thanks in advance in helping out or at least guide me to understand what is going on.

I have an iMac mid-2011, Snow Leopard 10.6.8 with both 250 gb SSD and 1 tb HD inside.
The system disc is the SSD, the 1 tb is for music, programs, photo's etc.

I have currently a huge problem: the private/var logs on the disc are getting over 50 gb, leaving no room to manoeuver. The whole system grinds to a halt.

i have tried several fixes/solutions, starting from easy to heavy:
disk utility to repair permissions and check catalogs
check the SMART status (both ok)
Diskwarrior rebuilding of directories
installed new 10.6.8 without formatting the SSD
installed new 10.6.8 with formatting the SSD

i thought i had it fixed, but now it starts again (arrgh...)
both the kernel.log and the als folder in the private/var folder are growing again, still with the same information.

WHO could tell me what is going on??? I am a noob on the technical side.

really appreciated.
If you need more info, i am more than willing to post.

sincere greetings, Hans aka Pilot from the Netherlands

here is a sample of what is in the kernel.log:

Welcome to the Mac Forums.

It looks like you're getting disk errors which are piling up rather quickly and stuffing your log. I can't tell if it's the SSD (I suspect it is) that has the problem or the second hard drive. I'm not sure if errors to the second hard drive would be recoded to the kernel log.

Anyway, your iMac is under warranty. I suggest you let Apple deal with it.
