Unhappy I don't have AirDrop for some reason.
I have an iMac I got in Christmas 2008, A few years later when Lion came out, I purchased it and AirDrop doesn't seem to be in my System and I really need it for file transfer in my household for my family, everyone has a spankin' new iMac, Mac Mini, MBP, MBA, everything and they got it right when Lion came out but unfortunately for me, I have an old iMac and I really want to transfer files without having a USB Stick in my pocket and having to transfer it to all the 5 Mac's in my household...

AirDrop only works with newer Macs. My suggestion would be to setup a shared folder on your Mac and use that. Go to System Preferences > Sharing to set up a shared folder.

Airdrop only works "out of the box" on newer Macs. You can make it work on older ones too though. I had a problem that my early 2008 MBP didn't support Airdrop right away while my new 2011 iMac did. This hint made it work:

10.7: Enable AirDrop on Macs without supported wireless hardware - Mac OS X Hints
