Hi;
I am trying to migrate from Windows XP to Mac Lion (10.7).
I run the Migration Assistant on the Mac, then go to the Windows PC where I installed the software, but the Windows PC reports an error. Cannot find any other computers.

I know that both computers have network connectivity. I am able to drag and drop files from one to the other.
I just thought that using Migration Assistant would make life easier.

Maybe the software is not intended to run on Windows XP (SP3)??

Thanks for your help.

No. It is made to transfer files etc from one Mac to another.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

So then why is there a Windows version of the software?
In any case, the software opens in Windows; just cannot find the Mac, which is on the same network.

It should work if you're doing it correctly and have installed the Windows version. Take a look at this tutorial, maybe it can help. LINK

Do I need to share folders on the Mac before running Migration Assistant?
I have shared folders on the PC, but I haven't done anything to share folders on the Mac.

Thanks for the links. That should be helpful.
