RAR files keep failing (CRC failed)
    Hi,

I have a MAC OS X 10.6.8 and I usually use the UNRARX files to open all the .rar files, however yesterday the rar files that I just dl won't open. The message says: CRC FAILED. Unexpected end of archive. Total errors: 2
And since then all of the RAR files that I just downloaded won't open, and keep giving me the CRC failed message. I then tried several options with WINZIP, STUFFIT, MAC PAR DELUXE, and it still give me the message that the file is broken. I understand that probably if it's only 1 or 2 then that certain file may be corrupted, but it happened to all the files that I just recently downloaded since yesterday. I then tried to unzip the ZIP files and it works perfectly. The only problem is on the RAR files. Can someone help me to find the solution to this? Appreciate your help.

    Me too
I am having the exact same problem with my imac and tried the same programs. I've spoken with a tech specialist at Apple and he couldn't help. He said it was probably something with the software I was using, but since I have UnRarX on my macbook pro and it works fine, I don't see how that is. I've tried disabling my security software, checking my ram and reinstalling programs. It isn't just one or two files, it is everything I download now, so that isn't it either. I keep getting CRC Failed. I'm lost. Can anyone help?

    Specs:
    20" Intel iMac 2.4 Ghz/3G Ram/320HD, Snow Leopard. PBook G4, 1.5Ghz/1.5 Ram/250 HD, Leopard 10.5.6.
The files are password protected, if you have the password, you need to enter it and then unstuff them.

    Please help!
I am having the exact same issues, and I have tried using several different RAR expanders and it keeps happening...I know the password is correct,..it just started happening a few days ago and I'm at a loss,..ALL the rar files from several different blogs will not expand...the weird thing is,..I have some older RAR files that I had left on my desktop from back before this started happening,..and they expand fine...there is no way that 20 different rar files from different sites would do this..I don't know what to do

    Rars won't expand..
I'm using Rar Expander,..I also tried it with RarX,...and the same thing happens..it's very odd....for example,..let's say I'm downloading the file from Megaupload..on their page I see the file listed as being 100M in size before I start the actual download...normally it takes say 3 minutes or so to download that file...well,..in the past 2 days..when I start the download..it takes like 2 seconds-and the download manager shows that the file that was supposed to be 100M has downloaded-but is only like 4M...then when I try to expand it-the problem occurs..and it says the file may be broken or corrupt and something about the resource fork. It's almost like someone has gotten access to that file and corrupted it then reloaded it back up to the file serving service...I've heard that Google or the record companies might be doing this with some kind of new software...but until I know that for sure..I'm hoping it's something else and that it can be rectified...

    Oh! and one more thing..
I just found a blog that had the same link on 2 file servers..one of the servers had it as a zip file,..the other as a RAR,.I tried the server that had the zip file-and it downlaoded fine-so it has to bes something with the RAR files themselves somehow....

    Ok, but..
Over 20 different files, from different sites using different file servers..one right after the other??..that seems weird..maybe it is on the uploaders side of things...but thanks for at least replying..I do appreciate it..

Virus protection on a Mac? Never use it.
Glad you got it fixed anyway.

Power PC are even less like to suffer virus attacks.
