I used to have a NAS device on my network, but I've since gotten rid of it. Problem is, the server still shows up in my Finder sidebar and nothing I've done has removed it. It's driving me nuts that it's still there, so any help to remove it is greatly appreciated!!

I forget which - try holding down option or the command key while dragging it off the side bar.

What do you mean you can't remove it in Finder preferences?
Head there - Sidebar tab - uncheck everything under Shared. I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth. In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus. Place your vote for our Member of the Month |

I mean exactly that. Sure, I can hide it by unchecking the stuff under Shared in the Finder preferences, but that's putting a band-aid on it. I want to remove the shared network server completely and nothing I do will remove it. It doesn't exist anymore, the IP address doesn't even exist anymore.

Hold down Apple (Command) and Alt while dragging the folder from the sidebar to the desktop, then release it while still holding them down. Hope this works! |
