password screen issues

updated to 10.6.8 and now this is what I get when asked for password screen.

I made sure all the new system fonts in all three font libraries

It sounds like a corrupted font cache to me. Have a look at this article:

CreativeTechs Tips: Garbled Font Fix: Corrupt Font Cache

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!
