OS 10.4 - Uninstalling applications

How do I uninstall an application in OS X? There is no folder for it, just an icon and it does not have a corresponding icon that says Uninstall.

drag the program you wish to delete to the trash, and then empty the trash.

I using Panther, but just drag the icon to the trash.. Then if you want under finder.. file.. find..Put the name of the program, drag everything that shows up to the trash.
