iCal v5.0 no longer playing nicely with Lotus Notes 8.5

I have iCal v5.0 (1535) and my wife is running Lotus Notes 8.5 on her IBM laptop. We have always been able to work our way thru the differences. She was always able to send me an invitation without any problems. When I sent her one, she had to open the attached .ics file, but then was able to add it to her Notes calendar. This week that stopped. Now, when she clicks on the .ics file, nothing happens.

We both swear neither has done anything that could cause this

Advice?

I figured it out. Somehow the .ICS files were pointed to Outlook. She doesn't have Outlook installed. When I corrected the pointer, all is fixed.
