So, I made a backup of my HD the other day. It was like 300 GB. I used carbon copy cloner. I've used it once before with no issues. Well, I transferred everything from my back up back onto my computer and now it won't work. Like, it's not working correctly. It put a lot of stuff back on the computer, but not everything. So I tried it again and it says it's done. Like iDVD, it opens but won't work because it doesn't have any themes. The themes are MIA. It didn't reinstall FCE 4 but it did Livetype. How can I get this to finish putting everything back on my computer?

It sounds like the backup you made with CCC was not complete. Can you verify that the CCC clone includes everything from the drive? Nothing was excluded? I've used CCC numerous times and it has never failed to make an exact clone of the hard drive.

It was completely cloned. I am thinking of finishing all of my work on my computer and wiping the HD and then trying to re-install everything again.

Was the clone to an external hard drive, and if so had the drive been formatted Mac OS Extended (Journalled) and Partition Map set to GUID under Partition > Options?

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
