    Create partition on USB drive w/o losing data?
    I have a 500GB USB drive that has about 200GB free, and I'd like to create an 8GB partition to restore an image to to boot there a way to create this partition without erasing any of my existing data on the drive?

    What file format is the drive using? If you're using HFS+, Disk Utility can create a partition without destroying data.
