I have 10.7 lion OS. When I download e books from our local digital library and attempt to open with adobe e reader I keep getting error message regarding compatibility or damaged file ad nauseum. I spoke to Apple yesterday and they feel the problem lies with Adobe. I spoke to them via messaging with no help. HELP!

First, are you sure the e books from your digital library are compatible with the Adobe e reader? Have you checked to see which readers are compatible?

There's also a possibility that your downloads are being corrupted.

Here is the message I get when I attempt to open e book.

Adobe Reader could not open 'Patient9780307781253.acsm' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).

You didn't answer my first question about compatibility. I can see what the error says and it sounds like the e books you're downloading are either not compatible or the files are being corrupted.

Assuming you have downloaded a file type that is compatible with the Mac version of Overdrive, you need to be using the Overdrive Media Console to listen to your downloads. They are not going to play directly in Adobe's software.

Can we have a thank you for DRM?

Revisited library site and found I had downloaded an older version of adobe digital. Removed, reloaded and I am up and running. Something to do with forest and trees.

OK, thanks for posting back. Sometimes we overlook the obvious. I've done that myself on many an occasion.
