I'm hoping I can get some help as I've checked some of the other forums and none of them seem to have the answers I'm looking for.

First off I have a Macbook Pro and OS X 10.6.6

The first issue is is the complete inability to do a software update. It always has an error during the download or during the installation. Its not just the update though, any program I download at all says "verification failed" on the download screen and if I try to open it says "image data corrupted". I've tried downloading on both Chrome and Safari.

Aside from trying on two different browsers, I've also tried restarted and shutting down, and repairing permissions.

If someone could give me some insight it'd be greatly appreciated!

After repairing permissions, next step is to repair the drive. Boot from your OS X disc, head to the menu bar and open up Disk Utility. If it does any repairs, run it again until it comes back with no repairs.

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus.
