I have a MacBook Pro, my first mac, that I bought from a computer store used. I was told that my laptop was referbished, which it seemed to be. I have had it for about 2 months now and have not experienced any problems until now.

I just upgraded to the OS X Lion with no problems.

My disk drive has burning capabilities but there was no previous burning application installed on my laptop. I did some searching on the internet and found that the app "Burn" was the best free burning app out there. I downloaded it and burned some dvds with no problems.

But just two nights ago, I burned maybe 6 discs and encountered a problem. I was using the Burn application and it seemed to not completely burn one dvd. The DVD player came up but it seemed to have gotten "stuck". It would not quit and the dvd that I just made would not eject from my laptop. It took me 3 hard resets to get the disk out and then my laptop would not get past the white boot up screen with the grey apple on it.

I took it into work and asked a guy who is familiar with macs and he showed me that when the laptop is booting up I can hold the options key until I get two options on which hd i want to open. We went with the recovery to see if anything was wrong with the disks. We verified the disks and everything was reading ok. We restarted the laptop from here and it restarted fine.

Then just lastnight I was on my laptop and I had my mail opened up and I was looking for stuff on the internet and all of a sudden my laptop started freezing up. I shut down safari and attempted to close my mail but it was "stuck". I tried to force quit it but that did not quit the application. I attempted to restart my computer but it would not restart, so I forced shut down with a hard reset.

When I turned on my laptop this morning, it took forever to boot up. I hard restarted it again holding the option key, clicked recovery and verified that the disks were running properly. It said everything was running ok. Restarted again, took forever to start and the mail application was still stuck running. Eventually I got it to quit but then every single click I did it seemed to take forever for things to come up. Eventually I gave up and just turned my computer off and this is my last attempt to try and figure out whats going on. I'm about to take my laptop back to the computer store and have him restore the whole thing.

Someone please help me! If you have experienced this or can tell me whats going on or what I can do to fix this issue I would really appreciate a reply.

P.S. Sorry its such a long thread!

You are asking for help with pirated movies. That's a no-no here.

Standing request for all troubleshooting: Please provide your Mac model/year and OS version. Also advise us if you have used or installed any antivirus, security, or "cleaning" software on your Mac. If you have installed MacKeeper in particular, you are hereby advised to uninstall it.

I'm not asking for help with pirated movies, beacause I'm in another country and pirated movies are allowed where I am.

I'm asking if anyone knows why my applications are sticking and if it could be becaues of a bad download and or if it could be something else.

It doesn't matter which country you're in as we follow the laws of the US since these forums are US based.

As for your problem, it sounds like the hard drive may be failing. Take it back to where you purchased it from. This thread will be closed.
