I read all of the posts about people having problems installing Lion with partitioned hard drives, but I can't tell if anyone is doing it successfully. I have 10.6.8 now with Windows 7 Professional running on a bootcamp partition and would like to give Lion a try. With my limited experience with Mac, I'm a little nervous about my ability to get myself out of a jamb if I run into problems.

Thanks

Worked fine on my MBP. I have used both since the upgrade without issue.

As member Deckyon stated, it should work. Keep in mind that Lion creates a small (650 MB) recovery partition as part of the install process. If your current hard drive is starving for space it's not a good idea to install Lion until you've replaced it with a larger unit. Otherwise you should have no problems installing Lion with a BC partition present. Before installing make a backup of both your Snow Leopard and BC partitions.

Thanks for the reply's. Hard drive space will not be an issue. I have 308 GB available on my Macintosh HD as my Bootcamp is only +/- 85 GB. I have my data backed up to my Time Capsule. If things go bad hopefully I'll be able to retrieve photo's and docs.

I'm a little disappointed more people haven't chimed in. Hopefully there is more than one person on here that has done this successfully... lol

Windows 7 Ultimate works a treat with Lion on a Mac Pro. What else can one say? As Apple says 'It just works!'

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

I've upgraded my iMac which has W7 64bit in bootcamp. Seemless upgrade.

A few general things:
- Make sure Snow Leopard is fully up to date
- Run a tool like Onyx to clear out your caches, repair permission etc.
- Back up Both your OSX and Windows partitions.

External hard disk acquisition addict - but admitting the problem is the first step to a robust backup

W7 Ultimate 32 bit

Only issue here is that the BootCamp partition no longer shows up within the Startup Disk Preference pane. W7 & XP both still work in VMWFusion and W7 still boots holding the option key. Never used the preference to boot to W7 anyway, so have not tried fixing it.

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.

Thanks guys. I've been trying to download it since last night, unfortunately my isp is having problems and I keep loosing my connection. Just my luck. They have a technician coming out to change something involving the fiber optic on the outside of my house (otc board or something, can't remember). So i'm waiting impatiently.

Thanks again for the help. Finally got it downloaded. The upgrade went off without a hitch. And everything is working great with Lion and Windows 7.

I was also curious (although I wouldn't care too much if I had to rebuild my Windows 7 part). Thanks for letting us know it worked!

I'm holding out for a while longer before I upgrade to Lion (I'm not an early adapter when it comes to new OS') but had the same questions/concerns since I too am running W7 64 Boot Camped.

Nice to read there doesn't appear to be any hidden issues with a BC Mac.

Cheers

Tom

Had a quad boot on Snow Leopard (well, actually, due to something weird happening, it's actually a QUINT boot, but one of the boots doesn't work!) -- two Mac boots (one for Snow Leopard to run the apps that won't run under Lion), a Linux, and a Win 7 -- and the Lion installation was 100% fine; all the other bootable partitions are as they should be.
