Storage "other"

When i go to storage space in the system information it has Audio, Movie, photo, apps and backup then it has "other"
Does anyone know what this is? its taking about about 50gb on my HD

Welcome to Mac-Forums

"Other" is literally that, other files than Audio, Photos, movies and backup. For instance this will cover documents, system files, cached files, temp files etc

You can use a program like DaisyDisk to help you figure out if there's large files taking up space that you can delete:
