iBook G4 problem

I recently had to re-install os on my friends iBook G4. When I go to install a program off the internet, such as Mozilla Thunderbird the download box pops up and once it gets to the end of the download it says verification failed. What is happening

The reason for the error could be file corruption or CRC errors occurred during the download. You might try downloading Thunderbird again, but perhaps use a different browser or instead of downloading from the Mozilla site, try an alternate site.
