Hello all,

I'd be grateful if someone here could tell me how to get a capital C with an accent acute as well as a caron on a capital Z. I'm proofreading documents that refer to Croatian names, which require these accents. I've spent a lot of time trying to resolve this...they are not in the symbols in the application as far as I can see.

I am on a Macbook Pro, running Word 2004 for MAC, and the unicode (Alt) codes do not seem to work in this environment.

Thanks for any help.

Regards.

Try the character viewer app. You can turn this on by opening the international preferences > Input sources tab and checking keyboard and character viewer

You can then access the character palette under the language flag in the menu bar and there is a list of characters - you want accented latin

Here is a list of accents and the corresponding keyboard modifiers. Give it a try first - depending on your current keyboard layout, those may or may not work.

Here's an Apple KB article for accented characters in 10.6 or 10.5.
