Hi, I'm fairly new to the mac world. I've got an ibook G4 (with osx tiger) and I run most of my music through my LaCie external hard drive. I know that you're always supposed to eject the lacie before turning it off. But lately, my ibook's been freezing in which case I can't eject it before restarting. Usually when this happens I have to start up the ibook with disk utility and repair permissions.
My main question is what should I do about ibook freezing so often? It usually happens when I'm running safari. I read something about deleting caches, is it safe to delete all of them? Is this related to the LaCie disk being improperly turned off? Also, what's going to happen to my external if it's frequently shut down without ejecting? Am I going to lose files? Thanks |

I'm sort of new myself, see if this applies to you, also look around the site. You might find your answer.
