OS 10.4 - Apps appearing mutiple time in open with menu

has anyone else had this problem, my applications are appearing multiple times in my open with (ctrl click) menu.

how can i fix it?

Sounds like either you did an upgrade to a newer OS or upgrades to programs. They should not be the same just different versions.

Has there been an archive and install done on this machine ever. It might be pulling info rom there.

backed up my internal hardrive from my external drive. when i try to opwn up a pic with photoshop for instance, it shows i have 10 photoshops, but i know i only have 1 installed

Is your drive hooked up?
Then OS X is finding the installed version of photoshop on the external drive, and this is causing the bug.

Check drunkenblog.com in the archives for some hints on how to fix this...

Just for everyone elses reference, this will happen at times if you have a backup on an external drive that you keep connected for a while.

An easy way to fix it is to rebuild launch services which you can do through an app like Cocktail or by using the terminal command if that's easier for you.
