how is lion installed

does anyone know if you need snow lepard installed to install lion
(i know you need it to download it)

Lion is not going to be released until sometimes in July. So a lot of the details may not be fully known at this point.

As of right now, the only known method of installing Lion is through the App Store which requires Snow Leopard. We are still waiting to hear if and/or when Apple will be providing a copy on physical media.

Apple has already made clear that they will not be providing Lion on any physical media. Thus, you MUST have Snow Leopard installed in order to upgrade to Leopard.
