hey everyone,

so whenever my mbpro wakes up from sleep, i cannot print to my network printer.

the printer is an hp 1022nw which is connected to a buffalo wireless ap running openwrt and is a client of my airport. i can ping both the printer and the buffalo AP, but print requests just hang in the queue.

in order to fix the problem i have to power cycle the printer OR i can remove/reinstall the printer. i am able to reproduce this problem consistently.

does anyone know where i can start to diagnose this problem? it's super annoying...

thanks,

justin

Hi;

I have an HP 8500 with the same problem. It wouldn't print from a Mac but would print from a PC when it wakes up.

The solution that worked for me was:

1. Hook the printer to your Airport or Time-capsule.
2. Hook the time capsule to the router if required.
3. Assign a static IP adress to the printer in its setup options.

The Time capsule and/or wireless router give you the same wireless print function that the HP came with, but the time-capsule seems to "wake up" the HP printer every time.

I hope this helps

my printer has a static IP, with its DNS and gateway pointed to the airport.

IP info:

airport: 192.168.1.1
wireless ap: 192.168.1.2
printer: 192.168.1.3

do you mean your printer was going to sleep or going into power saving mode?

I don't know how much the menu difference is between this model and my HP C6300 but in printer setup under networking wired 802.3 (using ethernet to router) i have network interface enabled and link settings set to auto along with communication mode set to full
and having IPv4 set to auto IP/DNS Server. Which works on everything in the home and friends computers when they come over as long as they loaded the printer drivers.
