I bought my G4 audio something couple of months ago from someone else with OSX installed. I think it's 10.3 version and the firmware has been updated. I did install a new dual layer dvd burner and it worked fine but after I update OSX and restart the computer, it couldn't boot pass the gray screen. In the gray screen, it doesn't have that circle thing on the bottom and it's just show the apple and the gray screen. The G4 didn't have the OSX disk so what can I do?

I'd try unhooking the dvd drive...
Maybe you have your jumpers set incorrectly? (i.e. the burner is set to master and the internal drive to slave).

try putting the computer in target mode, eject the drive put a cd in the drive, see if the cd mounts on the other computer.if it does than try to reinstalling os.

How do I put the computer in target mode? I'm pretty new to the macs because I've been using PC. I will try to install back the old drive.

To use target mode you will need two systems that have firewire ports. Power down the sytem that will be the target (externel disk drive). Connect the two system together with the firewire cable. Now boot up the target system, press and hold the t key. Continue to hold it until you see the firewire logo. Once this is done. Power up the other system if is not on. You should see the a new disk mounted on the system that is up and running.
