When I try to install Tiger it gets to the Verify Target Volume stage then says there was an error and that my target volume (Macintosh HD) is damaged. How do I repair my target volume?

Hmm if it's something with your hard drive and a repair permissions is not taking care of it, maybe an Apple tech is in need. Do you have an Apple Software and Apple Hardware test cd? if you do try that

Boot from the Tiger CD and select Disk Utility from one of the menus (forgot which) in the Installer.

Ok I checked support and they say if this happens to choose erase instead of upgrade. I think I'll do that, whats a good backup program?

This is 46 gb's I have. I'm thinking of using my dads powerbook and SuperDuper! to backup everything.
