iMac keeps on using Mac Osx Disk when start up

my imac has screwed up because when i reinstalled it i used archive and install now it wont go to setup assistant and it just keeps going back to installation process

Mac Specs: 20" Intel iMac 2.4 Ghz/3G Ram/320HD, Snow Leopard. PBook G4, 1.5Ghz/1.5 Ram/250 HD, Leopard 10.5.6.

Do you mean it's booting to the desktop, but showing the install icon because you have the disc inserted still, or something else?

Like it goes back to the installation process again like it asks for language and i at the end it said tht it was a failed install so then i clicked restart

and like when i go to start up disks it only has the cd and network option
