I have a macbook with os x 10.6.7, i need to reset the administrator and password without the start up disc if it can be done. Is this possible and if so how? Thanks

Follow the directions given in this LINK. You really need to buy a set of replacement disks as they are also used for trouble shooting and of course, reinstalling the OS.
