I want to empty my trash and this message comes up:

"Emptying the trash cannot be completed because "MSO8AAC9A6E3D8" is locked. To empty everything in the trash, including locked items, press the option key while selecting Empty Trash."

Can anyone help me with whether I should delete this file or whether it is extremely important. If it is important - what is it? I've put this into spotlight and finder but nothing comes up.

Thanks

Is that file in your Trash?
If so, drag it out onto your Desktop and do Get Info on it.
What does that tell you?

Problem is that when I put this file name into spotlight and finder they can't find it anywhere - and I can't see it when I open up trash.

If it's locked, right click it > Get Info > uncheck the "Locked" checkbox in the General section.
