how to update to Macbook 10.6?

I've recently got my macbook, and was currious to how I update to 10.6?
When I search for software updates, it says it's all up to date.

Do I need to buy this to update to it?

Yes you do. 10.x releases require that you pay for the upgrades. When you do upgrade, remember to backup your data first.

Mac Specs: Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
